Annie Meyer is a Part-Time Lecturer at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA) at Tufts University, where they teach Sculpture. They also serve as Director and Faculty for MassArt’s Furniture Design Certificate Program and have taught at institutions including The Eliot School of Fine and Applied Arts and Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. Meyer holds a BFA in Industrial Design from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and an MFA in 3D Design from Cranbrook Academy of Art.
Research interests focus on nonbinary objecthood, exploring how gender constructs intersect with built environments and human-object interactions. Their work investigates fluidity in design, emphasizing interactivity and reimagined spatial orientations. Notable exhibitions include Wasserman Projects, Fuller Craft Museum, and Cranbrook Art Museum.
Awarded the 2023 Center for Craft Teaching Artist Cohort Grant, Meyer’s artistic practice bridges sculpture and social critique, challenging norms through functional and conceptual objects. They lead the Notguys series and NBO furniture projects, which interrogate gendered spatial dynamics.
