Kimberly Winkle serves as Professor and Director of the School of Art, Craft & Design within the College of Education and Human Sciences at Tennessee Technological University, where she integrates artistic practice with academic leadership. Her work explores the interplay of color, form, and line through traditional furniture-making techniques, resulting in pieces characterized by exaggerated proportions and expressive mark making.
Her educational foundation includes:
- BFA in Ceramics from the University of Oklahoma
- MFA in Furniture Design from San Diego State University
Winkle's creative practice spans furniture design, woodworking, ceramics, sculpture, and woodturning, emphasizing vibrant color application and structural innovation. She transforms functional objects into expressive artworks through meticulous craftsmanship and playful exaggeration of scale, maintaining deep connections to craft traditions while pushing contemporary boundaries.
