Leslie Norton is an Associate Professor of Horn at Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music, a position she has held since 1989. She is also the principal horn of the Nashville Symphony Orchestra since 1990, with prior roles as principal horn in the New Orleans Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic, and Atlanta Symphony. Her performance career spans orchestral, chamber, and commercial music, including over 300 recordings for television, radio, and film collaborations with Nashville's music industry icons.
Education: B.M. and Performer's Certificate from the Eastman School of Music, studying under Verne Reynolds and Thomas Newell of the Boston Symphony.
Research interests focus on instrumental performance excellence and chamber music, reflected through her roles in the Blair Woodwind Quintet, Blair Brass Quintet, and founding member of ALIAS (Nashville’s premier charitable chamber group). She has performed as concerto soloist with major orchestras and contributed to diverse media projects like Naxos recordings, IMAX films, and CNN jingles.
Professional activities include 20 years as principal horn at the Eastern Music Festival and leadership in the OK Mozart, Skaneateles, and Peninsula Music Festivals.
