Dr Lesley Dunleavy is a Senior Research Associate in the Department of Health Research at Lancaster University, part of the Faculty of Health and Medicine. Her work focuses on palliative and end-of-life care, particularly improving access for minority ethnic groups. She collaborates with institutions including King's College London and Cambridge University through the NIHR Policy Research Unit. Her PhD explored recruitment challenges in palliative care trials.
Research interests include clinical trial methodologies, ethical care practices, and healthcare equity. She leads projects like the PalCaRE-NWC partnership to strengthen regional palliative care networks. Prior to academia, she worked as a nurse in specialist palliative care settings.
Key collaborations include the CovPall project evaluating pandemic responses in palliative care and the EU-funded ACTION trial on advance care planning. She is affiliated with the International Observatory on End of Life Care.
