Lesley Colvin is a Professor of Pain Medicine at the University of Dundee and Consultant in Anaesthesia & Pain Medicine at NHS Tayside. She is Deputy Head of the Division of Population Health and Genomics and holds an Honorary Professorship in Pain Medicine at the University of Edinburgh. Her research focuses on chronic pain management, particularly neuropathic pain, chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy, and translational research. She leads initiatives like the Edinburgh Translational Research in Pain (ETRiP) collaboration and chairs the Scottish Pain Research Community (SPaRC).
Education: PhD (University of Edinburgh, 1997), MBChB (1990), BSc (1987). Notable contributions include editorial roles at the British Journal of Anaesthesia and development of clinical guidelines such as SIGN 136 for chronic pain management. She has received awards including the Ian Stevenson Award for Excellence in Public Engagement and the Dundee Difference Award.
Research interests span genetic factors in pain, adverse childhood experiences, and multimorbidity. Current projects include the ACE-MAP Study, CAPE, and PAINSTORM, exploring pain mechanisms and interventions. She collaborates with institutions like Oxford, Ghent, and King’s College London.
