She holds academic positions including Research Academic Director (Biomedical) in the Faculty of Medicine and Health. Her research focuses on glioblastoma, drug discovery, and molecular mechanisms of cancer therapies.
Education: PharmD (2001, Comenius University, Slovakia), PhD in Medicinal Chemistry (2005, University of Bonn, Germany), and postdoctoral training at Northwestern University (2006–2007). Career highlights include over $6.5M in research funding and an extensive portfolio of patents and publications in high-impact journals like Nature Reviews Drug Discovery and Cancer Cell.
Research interests include targeting drug-tolerant cancer cells, DYRK1A function in brain cancers, and novel kinase inhibitors. Current projects explore therapies against glioblastoma stem cells and off-target effects of kinase inhibitors.
Awards include the 2020 Sydney SOAR Prize, Thompson Prize, and multiple fellowships. She advises students on projects like CAR-T immunotherapy and glioblastoma drug tolerance. Grants include funding from NHMRC, Cancer Institute NSW, and industry partnerships.
