Lauren Slaughter

Lauren Slaughter is a Professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham with over a decade of experience teaching creative writing, late American and British literature, and English composition. She developed the innovative course #funnynotfunny, exploring humor’s role in addressing challenging subjects.

Her research focuses on contemporary poetics, narrative humor, and creative pedagogy. Recent publications in 32 Poems, Pleiades, and Kenyon Review Online reflect her interests in minimalist poetry, regional storytelling, and interdisciplinary writing.
