Carrie Jerrell is an Associate Professor of English (Creative Writing) at Murray State University, serving as Coordinator of the Creative Writing Program and Assistant to the Dean of the College of Humanities and Fine Arts. She holds a Ph.D. in English (Creative Writing, Poetry) from Texas Tech University and an M.A. from Johns Hopkins University's Writing Seminars. Her research focuses on American Literature, Creative Writing pedagogy, and literary editing. Notable publications include her debut collection After the Revival (2009), winner of the Anthony Hecht Poetry Prize, and poems in journals such as Midwest Review and Birmingham Poetry Review.

She teaches courses ranging from introductory literature to advanced creative writing and oversees the Sewanee Young Writers' Conference.
