Laura Rees is an Assistant Professor at the Smith School of Business, Queen's University. Her research focuses on emotions, ambivalence, voice habit, and ethical implications in workplace performance and well-being. She holds a PhD in Business Administration from the University of Michigan (2014) and a BA in Economics from Harvard University (2005). Prior to Queen's, she was a postdoctoral fellow at Vanderbilt University and an Assistant Professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Her research investigates emotion-driven processes influencing negotiation, decision-making, and interpersonal interactions. Key areas include ambivalence's dual effects, voice habit theory, and collective emotion recognition in leadership. She is affiliated with the Academy of Management, the Society for Personality and Social Psychology, and the International Association for Conflict Management.
Teaching includes the course MGBL 885: International Negotiation. Her work bridges psychological theory with organizational applications, emphasizing emotional intelligence and virtuous workplace practices.
