Laura McMinn is a Senior Lecturer at Curry College within the Program for Advancement of Learning (PAL), leveraging over thirty years of cross-disciplinary expertise in psychology, education, and research to support students and families through metacognitively-based methodologies.
Education:
- B.S. in Psychology from Gordon College
- M.Ed. with specialization in curriculum and instruction from Lesley University
- AACC certification from ADD Coach Academy
Research and Practice Focus: Her work bridges neurolinguistics, child development, and educational psychology, with foundational research on language acquisition and cerebral specialization published in Brain and Language through collaboration with Massachusetts General Hospital's Neurolinguistics Laboratory. She implements evidence-based frameworks including Social Thinking and differentiated instruction to address executive function challenges, learning differences, and self-advocacy development across neurodiverse populations from childhood through young adulthood.
Professional Engagement: Transitioning from classroom teaching to specialized individual/family education over the past eight years, she develops tailored metacognitive strategies that enhance self-awareness and academic momentum. Her clinical practice integrates ADD coaching certification with neuropsychological insights to optimize learning profiles and family support systems, operating within Curry College's PAL framework for students with learning differences.
