Janis Peters is a Professor at Curry College's Program for Advancement of Learning (PAL), where she has worked since 1997. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, an M.Ed. in Counseling from Tufts University, and an Ed.D. in Teacher Leadership from Walden University.

Her research focuses on supporting students with learning disabilities during educational transitions, including:
- High school to college transition challenges
- College-to-career preparation for students with learning disabilities
- Mental health considerations for neurodiverse students
- Diagnostic evaluation methodologies
- ADHD-specific educational interventions
- Summer bridge programs for academic readiness
At PAL, she coordinates student/parent concerns, facilitates monthly student meetings, co-facilitates special events, and serves on the professional development committee. She also administers educational evaluations through the Educational Diagnostic Center and manages the College Search East Program for high school students with learning disabilities.
She has served on institutional committees including Diversity Committee, Undergraduate Curriculum Committee, and Faculty Welfare Committee, and delivered workshops on transition skills and mental health issues for students with learning disabilities.
