Laura Lisbon is Professor and Chair of the Department of Art at The Ohio State University's College of Arts and Sciences. She holds an MFA from Syracuse University and has exhibited internationally, including at the Wexner Center for the Arts and Camden Art Centre. Her research rethinks painting's boundaries through 'set-ups' that explore perceptual conventions.
Education: MFA Syracuse University; BFA Rhode Island School of Design; coursework at Brown University and University of Michigan.
Research focuses on painting's intersections with social conventions, visibility conditions, and collaborative processes. Recent work examines fog harvesting analogies in art and the temporal dimensions of painting through international collaborations.
Publications analyze artistic dispositifs and tableau theory, with essays in Cahiers de l'Agart and Journal of Contemporary Painting. Curatorial projects include 'As Painting: Division and Displacement' at the Wexner Center.
