Carmen Winant is a Professor and Roy Lichtenstein Chair of Studio Art in the Department of Art at The Ohio State University. She holds affiliations with Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and has taught in Ohio prisons through the Ohio Prison Education Exchange Project (OPEEP). From 2013-2015, she served as Dean of the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.

Her research interrogates women's power, pleasure, labor, healing, and liberation through installation, performance, and artist books. Central themes include second-wave feminism's aesthetic/political legacies, racial/class limitations of feminist movements, and socio-political inheritance. Her practice employs found photographs and archival materials to explore contradictory historical narratives.

Professional contributions include curatorial projects and collaborations with institutions like The Wexner Center. Lives in Columbus with her partner Luke Stettner and two sons since 2014.
