Sierra Austin-King is an Assistant Professor of Teaching in the Department of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) at The Ohio State University’s College of Arts and Sciences. She also serves as a faculty member in the Ohio Prison Educational Exchange Program. Her research focuses on Black feminist thought, educational equity for Black girls, and genealogies of resistance against state-sanctioned violence. She holds a Ph.D., M.A., and B.A. in relevant fields from The Ohio State University and Wilberforce University.

Her teaching and research interests include abolitionism, afrofuturism, Black women’s literature, intersectionality, and Black food pathways. Sierra has received multiple accolades for her leadership and advocacy, including recognition from WELD, Leadership Ohio, YWCA Columbus, and JPMorgan Chase & Deloitte.
