Dr. Laura Kennedy is a Lecturer in French at University College Cork, specializing in postcolonial literary studies with a focus on North Africa and the French Caribbean. She holds degrees from Queen’s University Belfast (PhD), SOAS (Master's in Comparative Literature), and the University of London Institute in Paris (BA in French Studies).
Her research examines how colonial languages are reappropriated in world literature through comparative analysis of francophone and anglophone writers. She co-founded the 'Literary Dislocation(s)' research network to explore dislocation in literary production and is currently preparing a monograph under contract with Liverpool University Press.
Dr. Kennedy has received the Peter Morris Memorial Postgraduate Travel Prize and William and Betty MacQuitty Travel Scholarship for her scholarly contributions. She welcomes PhD research proposals in her areas of expertise.
