Maeve McCusker is a Professor in Modern Languages at Queen's University Belfast (QUB), affiliated with the School of Arts, English and Languages. She specializes in postcolonial writing in French, particularly Francophone Caribbean literature, critical race studies, and early colonial writings. Her research bridges literary analysis with historical contexts, notably through studies of the planter caste and colonial narratives.

McCusker holds editorial roles in major journals (French Studies, French Studies Bulletin) and has served as an external examiner at University College Dublin, University College Cork, and the University of Exeter. Her research has been funded by the AHRC and British Academy.
