Laura Faure is a retired Lecturer in the Arts at Bates College, where she served as the founding director of the Bates Dance Festival since its inception in 1988. She transformed the Festival into an internationally recognized contemporary dance program emphasizing artistic excellence and community engagement. Her career spans over 30 years in dance, choreography, and arts administration.
Ms. Faure has held roles as a freelance arts manager and consultant for organizations such as the National Endowment for the Arts, New England Foundation for the Arts, and Maine Performing Arts Network. She chaired the Dance Panel of the Maine Arts Commission and contributed to cross-cultural initiatives with artists from Japan, Indonesia, Africa, Cuba, Portugal, and Mexico since 1994. She is a founding member of The African Contemporary Arts Consortium.
