Maria Tzianabos is a Lecturer in Theatre (Dance) at the University of Southern Maine (USM), affiliated with the Department of Theatre within the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. She has been at USM since 1997 and also taught at Bates College, Bowdoin College, and the University of New England. Her roles include directing the annual student/professional performance "Dance USM!" since 1999 and founding Terpsicore Dance, Inc. (Maria’s Danceworks, Inc.) in 2009, where she teaches children and produces student shows.

Her work focuses on contemporary and ballroom dance instruction, choreography, and repertory.
