Laura Ellis is a Professor and Associate Director in the School of Music at the University of Florida. She specializes in organ, harpsichord, and carillon performance, and teaches courses in Sacred Music. Her professional affiliations include leadership roles in the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America (GCNA), where she served as President, and the American Guild of Organists (AGO), where she has held regional and local leadership positions.
Ellis holds a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in organ performance and a Master of Music in Church Music from the University of Kansas, and a Bachelor’s degree from Luther College. Her carillon mentors include Albert Gerken and Karel Keldermans, while her organ teachers were James Higdon and William Kuhlman.
Her performances span international venues, including solo recitals in Australia, Canada, and across the U.S. Notable recordings include Jubilant Bells: Carillon Music of Alice Gomez (Ravel label) and Legacy: Laura Ellis Plays the Works of Jeanne Demessieux (ProOrgano). A 2024-2025 recital schedule includes engagements in Florida, North Carolina, and Texas.
Ellis has received the Ronald Barnes Memorial Grant (GCNA) to support recording projects. She actively promotes carillon and organ artistry through performances, recordings, and academic leadership.
