Laura Camfield is Professor and Head of the Department of International Development at King's College London. She leads interdisciplinary research focused on wellbeing measurement, mixed methods approaches, and ethical frameworks in international development. Her work encompasses £1M+ in research funding from ESRC and DfID, with extensive publications including 72 peer-reviewed articles and 4 books.
Research interests center on poverty alleviation, child/adolescent development in the Global South, and ethical research practices. Current projects include the Gender and Adolescence Global Evidence (GAGE) programme and qualitative evaluation methodologies.
Teaching includes Advanced Qualitative Methods at MSc level. PhD supervision covers children/young people, poverty research, and wellbeing measurement. Current doctoral students investigate counter-terrorism policies in Bangladesh and pandemic ethnography in Vietnam.
