Laura Spence is Professor of Business Ethics & Sustainability at King's Business School, King's College London, where she is Research Lead for the Department of Strategy, International Management & Entrepreneurship. She is a member of the Centre for Sustainable Business and a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences. She also holds visiting positions at the University of Oxford as International Research Fellow at the Centre for Corporate Reputation and Visiting Fellow at Kellogg College.
Her research centers on critical perspectives in business ethics, with a focus on corporate social responsibility (CSR), sustainability, and ethical organizational behavior. She explores CSR in small and medium enterprises (SMEs), supply chains, and the Global South, challenging mainstream corporate narratives. Her work integrates social theory, ethics, and organizational studies, emphasizing context, gender, and power dynamics.
Her recent publications reveal a strong thematic trajectory: advancing feminist CSR, critiquing capitalism’s role in social responsibility, analyzing stakeholder engagement, and examining ethical challenges in global supply chains and poverty. Her work often involves interdisciplinary collaboration and qualitative methodologies.

Laura Spence is an active advisor, currently accepting PhD students, and serves as Consulting Editor for the Journal of Business Ethics. She co-authored the market-leading textbook Business Ethics (Oxford University Press). Her research is supported by engagement with the Centre for Sustainable Business and collaborations across international institutions. She contributes to public discourse through expert commentaries on net zero transitions and gender equality.
She is affiliated with the Centre for Sustainable Business at King’s, where she participates in workshops and idea development initiatives focused on sustainable business futures, organizational legitimacy, and climate responsibility in academic travel.
