Lado Chanturia

Lado Chanturia is a Professor of Private and Comparative Law at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University since 1995. He currently serves as a Judge at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) since 2018 and was elected President of the IV Section at ECHR in 2024. His career spans high-level judicial, diplomatic, and academic roles.

• Education: DAAD scholarship at Georg August University (1991-1993); Humboldt Foundation fellowship at Max Planck Institute (2004-2006)

His research focuses on private law systems, civil legislation development, and comparative legal frameworks. He has contributed significantly to legal reforms in Georgia and Central Asia/Caucasus regions.
