Dr. LaSonya L. Moore is an Assistant Professor of Special Education at the University of South Florida, specializing in urban and rural educational environments. Her research focuses on educator persistence in high-poverty schools, addressing systemic inequities through qualitative methodologies. She holds a Doctorate in Urban Special Education Leadership from the University of Central Florida.
Dr. Moore’s career spans decades in K-12 education, including roles as a high school teacher for students with emotional/behavioral disorders, behavior specialist, and administrator. She has pioneered inclusive education initiatives and led the opening of an alternative high school in her district.
Research Interests: Her work examines educator retention strategies, diversity equity, and leadership impact in challenging school settings. She advocates for pedagogical reforms to dismantle systemic barriers affecting marginalized student populations.
