L.H. Dickert Jr. is a Professor of Music at Winthrop University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts, specializing in jazz and classical guitar, contemporary arranging, music business, and music theory. He directs the Jazz Combos program and Winthrop’s Guitar Ensembles, and serves as Director of Jazz Studies and President of Winthrop’s Phi Kappa Phi honor society chapter.

Professional affiliations include Phi Mu Alpha, Pi Kappa Lambda, Phi Kappa Phi, Kappa Delta Pi, The Society for Ethnomusicology, and the Jazz Education Network. He has mentored numerous musicians, including Bob Crawford (The Avett Brothers) and Gary Baker (Opryland). Dickert’s career spans over 30 years, with active teaching since 1992 and regular performances across the U.S. and internationally (e.g., Philippines).
