David Whitman is a Lecturer in Percussion Methods at San Diego State University's School of Music and Dance, College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts. He holds a B.A. in Music from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, M.M. in Percussion Performance and Pedagogy from Kansas State University, and D.M.A. from the University of Southern Mississippi. An internationally renowned percussionist and REMO artist/educator, he has performed with artists like Johnny Mathis, The Who, and San Diego Symphony.
Research Interests: Whitman specializes in percussion pedagogy across diverse styles including jazz ensembles, drumlines, and Latin percussion. His work integrates performance practice with educational methodologies, focusing on technical skill development and ensemble direction.
