John David is an Artist-in-Residence and Director of Jazz and Percussion Studies at Berry College in Rome, Georgia. He joined Berry in Fall 2013 and oversees multiple ensembles, including the Berry Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combo, Percussion Ensemble, Steel Band, and Viking Drumline. He also teaches applied percussion and specializes in percussion pedagogy for music education.
- Education: Studied at the University of Miami, University of Georgia, and Columbus State University
His expertise centers on jazz performance, drumset artistry, and ensemble direction. Under his leadership, the Berry Jazz Ensemble was featured at the 2015 and 2019 Georgia Music Educators Conferences. John is a renowned performer in jazz and commercial music settings across the U.S. and Europe.
