Kyle Horch is a Professor of Saxophone at the Royal College of Music since 1991 and has taught saxophone at Royal Holloway, University of London since 2011. He is a distinguished performer and educator in contemporary classical and chamber music. His career spans solo performances, orchestral collaborations, and recordings, including critically acclaimed albums like Flotilla (2009) and recent releases Inflorescence (2024) and Hooray for Hollywood (2024).
Education includes studies at Northwestern University and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama under Frederick Hemke and Stephen Trier. His research focuses on saxophone technique, pedagogy, and expanding the instrument’s classical repertoire. He contributed chapters to The Cambridge Companion to the Saxophone (1999) and authored numerous articles on saxophone-related topics.
Performance highlights include collaborations with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, and membership in the chamber ensemble Counterpoise. He has performed globally, winning competitions in the UK, Europe, and the US, with acclaimed reviews from Financial Times and American Record Guide.
Teaching spans masterclasses in over 10 countries, emphasizing technical mastery and artistic interpretation. Recent projects include the Pinewood Saxophone Quartet’s 2024 Hollywood-themed album and ongoing educational contributions through his roles at both institutions.
