Dr. Kyi Kyi Tha is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine & Health Sciences, Monash University Malaysia. She holds a MBBS from the University of Medicine (2) Yangon, Myanmar (1990) and a Ph.D. in Neuropharmacology from Hokkaido University, Japan (2001). Her research focuses on Neuropharmacology, Clinical Pharmacology, Breast Cancer, and Medical Education innovation. She has led projects such as 'Perturbation of cell-cell interactions in breast cancer' (2016–2019) and developed virtual tools like the Virtual Emotive Patient Avatar (VEPA) for clinical skills training. Awards include the PVC Award for Excellence in Education Innovation (2020) and the Teaching for Tomorrow AI Innovation Award (2024).
Teaching roles include coordinating the BMedSc (Hons) program and leading clinical skills modules in the undergraduate medicine curriculum. She advocates for patient-centered learning and has pioneered virtual clinical assessment methods during the pandemic. Her activities span international workshops on One Health education and leadership roles in Malaysia's Medical Education Associations.
Key contributions include advancing competency-based education, integrating technology into clinical training, and promoting health literacy in dengue treatment. Her work aligns with UN SDG 3 (Good Health) and SDG 4 (Quality Education).
