He holds a PhD in Natural Products Chemistry/Medicinal Chemistry from NIPER, India, and has postdoctoral experience at Universiti Sains Malaysia. His research focuses on computational drug design, particularly targeting HIV, dengue, and cancer, with emphasis on antiviral agents and natural products. Dr. Ahemad has led or co-led nine research projects since 2013, including studies on sirtuin inhibitors for oral cancer and breast cancer imaging probes. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and reviews, contributing to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and innovation.
Key awards include the PVC’s Commendation for Excellence in Education (2021) and the Supervisor of the Year – Outstanding Nominee Award (2018). His work spans collaborations across multiple countries, with notable contributions to enzyme inhibition mechanisms and drug discovery. Current projects address drug-resistant cancers, anti-HIV agents, and chikungunya virus research. Dr. Ahemad also advocates for active learning methods in pharmacy education.
Publications highlight advancements in nanomedicine, enzyme modulation, and repurposing existing drugs for cancer. His interdisciplinary approach integrates computational modeling, medicinal chemistry, and biological assays to develop novel therapeutics.
