Prof. Dr. Kurt Franz is a Research Associate at the DFG Center for Advanced Study 'RomanIslam – Center for Comparative Empire and Transcultural Studies' within the Asia-Africa Institute of the University of Hamburg. His work focuses on Islamic history, Middle Eastern studies, and transcultural comparisons of empires.
