Ludwig Paul is a Professor of Iranistics at the University of Hamburg's Faculty of Humanities, affiliated with the Asia Africa Institute and the Department of History and Culture of the Near East. He focuses on Iranian linguistics, Persian language history, and Middle Eastern history.
