Kristy Regan is a Senior Lecturer in Social Work at the University of Sunderland, joined in November 2019. She holds dual roles as Programme Leader for Practice Education in Social Work and Co-lead for Advanced Safeguarding Adults, alongside serving as Practice Placement Co-ordinator. She is also an External Examiner for Oxford Brookes University’s Practice Education courses.
With a Master’s in Social Work (2006), she has over 13 years of statutory social work experience, specializing in Adult Safeguarding as a Senior Social Worker and Governance and Safeguarding Manager. She maintains active practice as a Court of Protection Visitor for the Office of the Public Guardian.
Her research focuses on Practice Education and professionalism concepts, currently pursuing a Professional Doctorate in this area. She teaches across BA (Hons) and MA Social Work modules, emphasizing practical skills and ethical practice.
Her professional contributions include advancing safeguarding practices and improving student transition into higher education through structured placements and mentorship.
