Matt Clarke is a Lecturer in Social Work and Safeguarding Co-ordinator at Keele University's School of Medicine. He holds an MA in Social Work from the University of Sheffield (201?) and a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science from Sheffield Hallam University (201?). With ~10 years' experience in statutory Children and Families Social Work, he specializes in safeguarding vulnerable children, including those subject to Child Protection Plans or court proceedings. He has also worked with children in long-term care and served as a Senior Practice Lead, training and mentoring Newly Qualified Social Workers.
His teaching spans undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including 'BA1 Introduction to Law, Policy and Safeguarding', 'BA2 Children & Families Social Work', and the upcoming PGDip Social Work Apprenticeship as Course Lead. He also delivers safeguarding sessions across disciplines such as Paramedic Science and MBChB, and contributes to the MA Childcare Law and Practice programme in Keele's School of Law.
Clarke is registered with Social Work England and actively integrates frontline practice insights into his academic roles. His work emphasizes translating safeguarding expertise into educational frameworks while maintaining strong ties to NHS partnerships via the Clinical Education Centre.
