Danielle Tully is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Chichester, affiliated with the Institute of Education and Social Sciences. She holds a MA in Advanced Professional Practice (2019) from the University of Chichester and qualified as a Social Worker through Portsmouth University (2010). Her career spans over two decades in social work, including roles as a Social Worker, Team Leader, Service Manager, and Senior Leader in Local Government. She previously served as Head of Service for Children We Care for at Portsmouth City Council, overseeing projects related to children in care, foster care, adoption, and unaccompanied asylum seekers.
Her research interests focus on family safeguarding, restorative practices, innovation in public sector systems, resilience in social work practice, and inclusion/diversity initiatives. She is actively involved in Degree Apprenticeship Coordination for Social Work. Her work emphasizes multi-agency collaboration, particularly in safeguarding and child protection contexts.
Prior to academia, her career included leadership roles in safeguarding (child protection, court teams, child trafficking), care leavers support, and adult mental health services. Her professional experience combines statutory social work with strategic innovation projects in central and local government.
She is registered with Social Work England and maintains strong ties to practical social work education and professional development.
