Kristina Swanson is an Associate Teaching Professor at Notre Dame Law School, specializing in legal writing and advocacy. She transitioned from a 20-year legal career as a trial attorney, litigating aviation accidents and civil rights cases, to full-time academia. Previously, she clerked for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California and practiced at Kirkland & Ellis and Morrison & Foerster.
Education:
- Harvard Law School, J.D. cum laude
Her research focuses on systemic barriers to women in law and improving legal analysis/writing education. She has presented on aligning legal writing curricula with modern practice and trends affecting women in the legal profession.
Teaching roles include creating an Alternative Dispute Resolution course at Indiana University’s legal writing program and teaching trial advocacy at Notre Dame. She volunteers with the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic and serves as a member of the Legal Writing Institute and AALS sections on Litigation and Women in Legal Education.
Her career bridges litigation practice and legal pedagogy, emphasizing equity and practical skills development.
