Kristina Siig serves as Professor II at the University of Oslo's Scandinavian Institute of Maritime Law while holding a primary professorship in private and maritime law at the University of Southern Denmark. Her institutional leadership includes directing SDU's Private Law Research Group and the interdisciplinary Blue SDU research cluster focused on ocean-related studies.
Her research spans Maritime Law, Law of the Sea, and Tort Law with an interdisciplinary approach examining regulatory frameworks, treaty interpretation, and private actor roles in ocean governance. Recent work critically analyzes UNCLOS 1982 implementation challenges and maritime security mechanisms.
Analysis of her 2024 publications reveals concentrated expertise in treaty interpretation methodology, regulatory complexity, and evolving enforcement paradigms where private entities increasingly share regulatory responsibilities in maritime spaces. Her scholarship bridges theoretical legal analysis with practical ocean governance challenges.
She teaches maritime contracts within master's programs at the Scandinavian Institute of Maritime Law and supervises advanced legal research through SDU's Department of Law.
