Kraig Beyerlein is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Director of the Center for the Study of Religion and Society at the University of Notre Dame. He also serves as Director of Graduate Studies and holds affiliations with the Center for the Study of Social Movements, Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies, and Institute for Latino Studies. His research focuses on the intersection of religion and collective action, particularly faith-based mobilization in progressive activism such as immigrant rights and the Women’s March.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Sociology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Research Interests: Kraig examines the role of religion in civic engagement, protest activity, and social networks. Current work includes a book manuscript on faith-based mobilizing along the Arizona-Sonora border. His publications appear in journals like the American Sociological Review, Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion, and Social Forces.
