Professor Knut Lönnroth is affiliated with Karolinska Institutet's Department of Global Public Health and leads the Social Medicine, Infectious Diseases, and Migration research group. He holds a dual role as a senior consultant at the Centre for Epidemiology and Community Health, Region Stockholm, and serves as group leader for interdisciplinary tuberculosis research. His expertise spans tuberculosis epidemiology, health systems, and social interventions.

Research Interests: Dr. Lönnroth focuses on tuberculosis control, including social determinants, screening strategies, comorbidity management, and financial risk protection. Current projects include E-Detect (early TB detection in Europe), IMPACT-TB (case-finding in Nepal/Vietnam), and TB-Sequel (long-term consequences of TB).

Labs/Teams: Leads Tobias Alfvén's Global Child Health research group and coordinates the SPARKS network for health/social policy research.
