معرفی
Kirill Volynski is a Professor of Neuroscience at the University College London, affiliated with the Research Department of Epilepsy. He also holds an Adjunct Associate Professor position at Yale University.
- Education:
- PhD in Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (1999)
- MSc in Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (1995)
- BSc in Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (1993)
His research focuses on synaptic transmission mechanisms, particularly the role of SNARE proteins, calcium signaling, and synaptotagmin isoforms in regulating neurotransmitter release. He investigates how genetic mutations in these components lead to SNAREopathies—neurodevelopmental disorders involving epilepsy and intellectual disabilities.
Recent publications highlight work on presynaptic calcium dynamics, asynchronous glutamate release, and computational modeling of exocytosis. Collaborations span institutions like Yale University and involve advanced techniques such as fluorescence microscopy and genetic therapy.
Current projects aim to unravel molecular pathways in synaptic plasticity and explore therapeutic interventions for SNAREopathies through genetic approaches.
