Kiprono Langat is a Senior Lecturer in Education at Charles Sturt University's School of Education within the Faculty of Arts and Education. With a BAEd from Kenya, MEd (International Education) with First Class Honors, and PhD, he brings extensive experience from teaching in primary and high schools in Australia and Kenya, as well as university-level instruction.
His research interests include: rural teacher education and schooling practices, curriculum area literacies, international education, rethinking social change and sustainability (particularly in Indigenous Australian and Kenyan education contexts), and refugee studies. Langat examines how teachers in rural and regional areas develop teacher identity that creates intercultural understanding while valuing equity, diversity, and social justice.
Langat's recent publications show a strong focus on refugee education, cultural responsiveness, and educational equity. His research consistently addresses the challenges and opportunities for refugee students transitioning into Australian educational systems, with particular attention to social networks, community support, and university pathways. His work demonstrates a commitment to addressing educational disparities through practical implementation strategies and policy recommendations.

Langat serves as a registered supervisor at CSU and has been actively involved in reviewing for journals including the International Journal of Inclusive Education and the International Journal of Community and Social Development. His community engagement includes membership on the Board of Centacare Managers Inc and collaboration with interagency service providers to improve engagement of newly arrived migrants in the local community. He is also part of the Education for Sustainability consortium in the Wagga region and participates in the United Nations' Online Volunteers initiative.
Langat maintains strong connections with communities through his research on refugee education and his work with the City of Wagga Wagga Social Plan, demonstrating his commitment to school-community-university partnerships that address real-world educational challenges.
