Dr. Kimberley Bartholomew is an Associate Professor in the School of Education & Lifelong Learning at the University of East Anglia. Previously, she held positions at the University of East Anglia's School of Psychology and Nottingham Trent University. She earned a First Class undergraduate degree from Loughborough University, a Distinction-level master's from Nottingham Trent, and a PhD in Sport Psychology from the University of Birmingham under Prof. Nikos Ntoumanis.
Her research focuses on motivation, well-being, and digital resilience in educational settings, employing frameworks like Self-Determination Theory. Notable projects include the Teacher Agency with Technology initiative (ESRC-funded) and the Bee Smart Media Literacy Programme targeting care leavers. She collaborates internationally via the International Research Network on Physical Education and Healthy Lifestyle Promotion.
Teaching roles include leading research methods across undergraduate, masters, and EdPsyD programs, and contributing to UEA's PGR training. As a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), her pedagogical interests align with her research on student engagement.
Her work addresses global challenges linked to UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in education equity and well-being. Ongoing projects explore speech-language skills in early childhood and scalable interventions leveraging digital platforms.
