Kimberley Smith is an Associate Professor in Clinical Health Psychology at the University of Surrey's School of Psychology within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. Her research examines the intersection of physical, mental, and social wellbeing in aging populations, with particular focus on diverse ageing experiences and chronic health conditions.
Dr. Smith's research program investigates mental health outcomes in adults with lifelong disabilities, loneliness in older adults, and the relationship between physical health conditions and psychological wellbeing. She leads projects including 'Supporting adults with cerebral palsy to age well' funded by the Dunhill Medical Trust.
Her methodological approaches include longitudinal cohort studies, systematic reviews, and cross-cultural comparisons. Recent work explores dementia risk factors and the impact of cardiometabolic health on cognitive decline across different populations.
As EDI lead for the PsychD program and PGR director for the School of Psychology, she oversees doctoral training and promotes inclusive research practices.
