Jessamine Chen is a Research Fellow at Macquarie University's School of Psychological Sciences and affiliated with the Lifespan Health and Wellbeing Research Centre. She holds external positions as a Lecturer at the University of Sydney (2015–2023) and a Conjoint Lecturer at the University of New South Wales (2008–2019). Previously, she served as Head of the Western Sydney LHD Anxiety Treatment & Research Unit (2014–2018).
Dr. Chen specializes in clinical research on psychological interventions for anxiety and depression across the lifespan, with a focus on older adults. Her work includes managing NHMRC-funded randomized controlled trials and developing culturally adapted interventions for Chinese-speaking populations. She teaches in the Master of Clinical Psychology program, emphasizing evidence-based practice and eHealth applications. She has supervised psychologists since 2008 and engages in community outreach to raise awareness of mental health in aging populations.
Her research interests span late-life mental health interventions, social participation, and reducing loneliness. She has contributed to 15+ peer-reviewed publications, including systematic reviews on geriatric mental health and psychotherapy efficacy in children/adolescents. Current projects involve targeting loneliness in chronic conditions and improving social wellbeing programs for dual sensory-impaired adults.
