- Bachelor of Psychology (with Honours), Monash University (2016-2018)
Leung's research focuses on mental health in aging populations, with specialized expertise in culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, dementia care, and psychosocial factors including loneliness, social isolation, and depression/anxiety. Methodologically, she employs systematic reviews, scoping reviews, mixed-methods approaches, and thematic analysis to investigate health service utilization and mental health outcomes in older adults.
Her 2021-2024 publications reveal consistent thematic focus on gerontological mental health assessment, particularly depression measurement in cognitive impairment and social determinants of wellbeing. Key methodological trends include systematic review frameworks applied to social media impacts and scoping reviews for depression assessment tools, complemented by mixed-methods investigations of health access barriers for linguistically diverse aged care populations.
Professionally active, Leung serves on the Australian Association of Gerontology NSW Division Student and Early Career Group Sub-Committee (Jan 2024-Present) and has presented at multiple conferences including the 2023-2024 presentations on social participation barriers for dementia patients and befriending interventions for Chinese-speaking nursing home residents.
Her collaborative research involves multidisciplinary teams across Macquarie University, Monash University, and Australian healthcare institutions, with recent projects examining emergency department utilization patterns and social support interventions for vulnerable older populations.
