Her research focuses on hepatobiliary drug disposition, drug transporters, and in vitro model systems for predicting drug interactions and hepatotoxicity. She co-invented B-CLEAR®, a patented in vivo/hepatocyte-based drug screening technology, and founded Qualyst, Inc. (acquired by BioIVT). Brouwer has mentored over 100 students and published 230+ peer-reviewed articles.
