Kim L. R. Brouwer

Kim L. R. Brouwer is the Interim Dean and William R. Kenan Jr. Distinguished Professor at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Her roles include leadership in research and graduate education, with significant contributions to hepatobiliary drug disposition and drug transport mechanisms. She holds appointments in the Department of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics and the Curriculum in Toxicology.

• Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences/Pharmacokinetics, University of Kentucky

Research Focus: Brouwer’s research centers on hepatic drug transport proteins, in vitro models for predicting drug disposition and toxicity, and translational tools like B-CLEAR®. She has co-founded Qualyst, Inc., and chairs its Scientific Advisory Board.

Leadership & Mentorship: Brouwer has mentored over 100 students and led NIH-funded training programs. She currently oversees a research portfolio exceeding $86.9 million (FY23). Her work bridges clinical pharmacology and precision medicine, advancing drug safety and efficacy through systems pharmacology models.
