Kim Jones is an Associate Professor of Dance at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte within the College of Arts and Architecture. She serves as a régisseur for the Martha Graham Resource Center and founded Movement Migration, a professional dance company emphasizing cross-generational and global artistic collaboration.
Her research focuses on reconstructing lost modern dance works and investigating cultural erasure, particularly through her decade-long study of Korean dancer Choi Seung-Hee. Jones has received significant recognition including NEA grants, a NYPL Fellowship, and UNC Charlotte's Board of Governors' Teaching Award for her innovative work bridging historical scholarship and performance practice.
Notable projects include the reconstruction of Martha Graham's Imperial Gesture (1935) and Paul Taylor's Tracer (1962), both now in company repertories. Her current research centers on Choi Seung-Hee's legacy, resulting in the collaborative work Dance for Freedom presented internationally.
