Emmanuèle Phuon is a Lecturer in dance at Montclair State University, NYU Tisch Open-Arts/Collaborative Arts, and Yale University. A globally recognized dancer, choreographer, and educator, she has performed with prestigious companies including Elisa Monte Dance Company and Baryshnikov’s White Oak Dance Project. Her interdisciplinary work bridges postmodern dance, Cambodian cultural heritage, and diasporic identity. Phuon’s choreographic commissions include major venues like the Guggenheim and Danspace Project.
Her research focuses on postmodern dance theory, Cambodian diaspora narratives, and pedagogical innovation. Notable works like Khmeropédies III have garnered royal endorsement in Cambodia and scholarly attention in journals like Udaya Journal of Khmer Studies. Current projects include a book on dance pedagogy co-authored with Yvonne Rainer.
