Kevin Singh

Professor Kevin Singh is the Head of the Manchester School of Architecture at Manchester Metropolitan University since September 2020 and a Visiting Professor at Ulster University's Belfast School of Architecture. With over 30 years in higher education, he has led courses such as BA Interiors and M.Arch, previously serving as Head of Birmingham School of Architecture and Design. He holds a Professorship conferred in 2013 for contributions to Learning & Teaching and Academic Leadership, alongside a National Teaching Fellowship (2015). His professional affiliations include roles with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), including RIBA Education Committee membership, National Council, and various visiting board chairs. He currently serves as External Examiner for M.Arch at Glasgow School of Art and London Metropolitan University.

Education qualifications include a BA (Hons) Architecture (RIBA Part 1), PG Diploma in Architecture (RIBA Part 2), MA Architecture (Design & Theory), and a PC Certificate in Education. His practice co-founded, thespace* studio, specializes in interiors, refurbishments, and new build projects across sectors like higher education, social housing, and cultural institutions (e.g., English National Ballet, Manchester City Football Club).

Research interests focus on architectural pedagogy, sustainable design, and academic leadership. His professional contributions include judging RIBA awards, Future Spaces Foundation, and Credawards in China, and chairing the RIBA Annie Spink Award for Excellence in Architectural Education (2024). He has extensive external examining experience across UK universities and advisory roles in academic appointments and course approvals.

Additional roles include Associate Trustee for National Museums Liverpool, Board Member of danceXChange, and committee membership in the Manchester Society of Architects. Outside academia, he is a dedicated Manchester City Football Club fan.
