Kevin Killeen is a Professor of Renaissance Studies at the University of York, specializing in early-modern science, intellectual history, and biblical studies. He has held positions at Birkbeck, University of Leeds, and others, and currently leads the AHRC-DFG funded project on scientific poetry (2024-2027). His research focuses on the interplay between religion, science, and literature in early modern thought, with a particular emphasis on the Bible's cultural and political uses.
- Editor of Renaissance Studies and member of the Society for Renaissance Studies.
- Recipient of the Roland H. Bainton Book Prize and CCUE Book Prize.
Education: PhD from Birkbeck, University of London.
Research Interests: Early modern literature, biblical reception, apophatic theology, and the history of science. Notable works include The Unknowable in Early Modern Thought (2023) and The Political Bible in Early Modern England (2017).
Teaching: Courses on Renaissance literature, biblical literature, and postcolonial theory. Supervises PhD students in early-modern intellectual history and Renaissance poetry.
